2DA Week 2 (Apr 6-10)

Monday, April 6:
1. Go to the Animaker Tutorials page and do the following 4 Tutorials:
   a. How to use Action+
   b. How to use Smart Move (Note: Don’t use Santa, use a different picture instead.)
   c. How to use Voiceover (Note: Use the Text to Speech option instead of Recording Voice)
   d. How to use Camera
2. Next, create your own animation video that uses all 4 things you learned in the above four tutorials. Share the link to your video with me to hand it in.
This video is DUE on Wed, April 8 at 8:00 pm. I will give you Wednesday’s online class time to work on it.

AC1 / AC2 Week 2 (Apr 6-9)

Monday, April 6:
1. Today we will learn about using Google Docs
2. Watch this video on Google Docs and type what you see in the video.
3. Hand it in to me by downloading the file and handing it in using the Handin Assignment link. (if you forget how to do this, look at the instructions above from before Spring Break)
4. Next, open the Google Docs Assignment by clicking here. You will be working on creating 2 Google Docs in the assignment.
5. Hand in these 2 Google Docs using the Handin Assignment Link. These are due tomorrow, Tuesday Apr 7 at 4:00 pm so you have 2 days to do the assignment.

Monday, April 6:
1. Many of you have not handed in your Functions Assessment 2. Please hand this in as soon as possible!
2. Today we start a new unit…Arrays!
3. Watch the following 4 videos on Arrays which will take a total of 30 minutes. While you watch the videos, have a Processing window open and type in the code as you watch the videos. This is the BEST way to learn coding!

Tuesday, April 7 – Thursday, April 9:
1. For the rest of this week, you will be reading and coding through the Array Basics Unit from the Learn to Program Textbook. So what that means is that as you read, have a Processing window open for coding alongside as you read. When you see a black box of code illustrated in the textbook, I would like you to write it into Processing and see how it runs.
a. Work through the examples in the black boxes in this unit. No need to hand the examples in.
b. Work through the Check Your Understanding: Exercise 1 and hand it in.
2. The Learn to Program Textbook and Notes are available in the Course Information near the top of this page.

Tuesday, March 24:
1. Independent Film Study – for the next several weeks, you will be working on an independent film study. Click here for all the details.
2. Choose a movie which you are personally interested in (no animated films). Film can be any genre and subject matter, but must be approved by both your parents and Ms. Froese. (Email Ms Froese with movie title by Thurs, Mar 26)
3. You will write a Genre Discussion (300 words) – Due: Wed, April 8

4. Read the Film Genre notes to prepare you for writing the Genre Discussion. Click here for the Film Genre notes.

DCA Week 1 (Mar 23-27)

Monday, March 23 (Due Wed Mar 25):
1.Watch this instructional video on Pivot Tables using Google Sheets
2. Start your assignment on PivotTables:

a. Go to Google Pickup Drive
b. Open Mar 23 – Ex 11 folder
c. Right Click 40Inventory.xlsx and select “Make a Copy”
d. Move “Copy of 40Inventory.xlsx” to MyDrive
e. Rename “Copy of 40Inventory.xlsx” to include your name.
for eg. “sfroese 40Inventory.xlsx”
f. Open your own copy of the 40Inventory file from MyDrive and use the directions from 11) Pivot Tables Assignment.pdf file found in the Mar 23 – Ex 11 folder.
g. Once you are done your assignment, download your 40Inventory.xlsx file to your computer
h. Click on the Handin Assignment Link (see above) to attach the file and submit your assignment to me.

Wed, Mar 25 (Due: Fri Mar 27)
1. Watch the Video on Linking Data until 8 minutes and 30 seconds in the video. (Note: We don’t need to learn about linking from one workbook to another. We only want to learn about the linking between sheets.)
2. While you are watching this first part of the video, recreate all the sheets you see in the video and do the linking as shown in the video.
3. Download and Hand in the “Link Data” file to your computer.
4. Then submit the “Link Data” file using the Handin Assignment link.
Note: We are almost done the Spreadsheets Unit. When we come back from Spring Break, we will work on the Spreadsheets Project and after that we will start the Google Sketchup 3D Modeling Unit.

Friday, Mar 27 (Due Fri Mar 27 at 8:00 pm):
1.  Meeting on Zoom at 2:00 pm TODAY to see how you are all doing with the course and to connect as a class. I sent you a meeting invite so check your email! Meeting ID: 612 878 314
2. Watch the Video on Sorting and Filtering Data until 5 minutes and 0 seconds in the video.
3. While you are watching this first part of the video, recreate the sheet and do the filtering and sorting as shown in the video. This shouldn’t take too long so I made it due by 8:00 pm today.
4. Download and Hand in the “Sorting and Filtering Data” file to your computer.
5. Submit the “Sorting and Filtering Data” file using the Handin Assignment link.

3. Upload and submit your Processing assignment file to me using the Hand in Assignments link above.
4. If you have any questions, you can either email me at sfroese@sbdhs.net or text me using Remind app. If your code doesn’t work, email/attach the file to me so I can see what the problem is. Ask for help right away and don’t wait too long since I don’t want you getting too frustrated after spending many hours trying to figure out why your code won’t work.
